Tenshin Nasukawa retired from kickboxing undefeated and moved to professional boxing, which is an almost unheard-of exit from a sport where nearly everyone eventually loses. Forty-two fights without a defeat, most of them finished, in the deepest lighter-weight scene in the world.
His style is closer to a highlight reel than a system — spinning attacks, switch-stance entries, and a comfort improvising that most fighters cannot risk. It worked because his timing and distance judgement were exceptional enough to make low-percentage techniques high-percentage in his hands, which is not a transferable lesson.
His long-awaited meeting with Takeru was among the biggest events in Japanese combat sports of the era, and the two of them are the reason the domestic lighter divisions retain the profile they do.
