Ankle supports
- Typical price
- €12–30
Thin elastic sleeves worn over the ankle, standard in Muay Thai and common in kickboxing. They provide mild compression and some protection against the friction burns and minor sprains that come from pivoting on a canvas, and they are not a substitute for an ankle that has been properly rehabilitated.
What to look for
Cheap and worth having if you pivot hard on your kicks or have a history of ankle sprains. Thin enough to fit inside shin guards without bunching. If an ankle is genuinely unstable, a support sleeve is managing a symptom — get it assessed rather than wrapping it tighter each week.
At a glance
- Mild compression and friction protection, not stability
- Must fit under shin guards without bunching
- Useful for hard pivoting on the standing leg
- Not a treatment for an unstable ankle
