Jérôme Le Banner is the most consistently dangerous heavyweight never to win a K-1 World Grand Prix, and his career is a study in how a single attribute — genuinely fight-ending left-hand power — interacts with a long tournament format. In one-off bouts he beat almost everyone. In a one-night tournament requiring three fights, injuries and attrition repeatedly caught him at the final hurdle.
As a southpaw he presented a problem most of the division rarely faced. The open-stance matchup puts his left cross on the same line as an orthodox opponent's lead hand, and Le Banner threw it with the commitment of someone who did not much mind trading.
