Murthel Groenhart came through Mike's Gym and spent his career in one of the deepest welterweight fields the sport has had, alongside Nieky Holzken and later Cédric Doumbé. His GLORY tournament win came in exactly that company.
He fought with more variety than most of the Dutch tradition — spinning attacks and unorthodox angles alongside the standard combination-into-low-kick pattern — which made him harder to game-plan for and occasionally cost him against opponents who simply waited for the low-percentage attempt.
His long record across K-1, It's Showtime and GLORY makes him a good example of a career spent entirely inside the Dutch ruleset lineage, moving between promotions without ever needing to adapt technically.
