The Tank
Tarik Khbabez
Durability plus an accumulating low kick. Inherited a division defined by Pereira and Vakhitov and had to answer both.
Tarik Khbabez took the GLORY light heavyweight title in a division that had been defined by Alex Pereira and Artem Vakhitov, which is a harder inheritance than it sounds — the winner had to be able to handle both a one-shot finisher and the technician who neutralised him.
His answer is durability and leg kicks. He absorbs more than most and keeps working, and his low kick accumulates in exactly the way the Dutch tradition intends: unglamorous for two rounds, decisive by the fourth.
He has also moved up to heavyweight, which is the usual progression for a light heavyweight who has cleared his own division and finds the next weight class is where the promotion's attention sits.
