Kunlun Fight
The promotion behind the Chinese kickboxing boom of the 2010s, running very large cards and tournaments.
Kunlun Fight drove the rapid expansion of professional kickboxing in China from 2014, running frequent large-scale events and importing established international names — Buakaw among them — to build domestic interest.
It used a K-1-derived ruleset, which made it straightforward for European and Thai fighters to compete there without adjustment, and for a period it offered purses competitive with anything in Europe. That drew a substantial share of the international lightweight and welterweight talent pool onto Chinese cards.
China also has its own indigenous full-contact code in Sanda, and the coexistence of the two — a K-1-derived import alongside a domestic ruleset with throws — makes the Chinese scene one of the more interesting places to observe how rulesets compete for the same athletes.
