The division that produced K-1 MAX and, arguably, the best fighting in the sport’s history.
Lightweight — 70 kg — is the historical home of K-1 MAX, and the case for it being the sport's best division is strong. Masato, Buakaw, Albert Kraus, Andy Souwer and Giorgio Petrosyan all competed here, and the Thailand-versus-Netherlands-versus-Japan stylistic argument played out at this weight more than any other.
GLORY inherited the division and kept the standard: Sitthichai, Marat Grigorian, Robin van Roosmalen and Andy Ristie between them produced a decade of genuinely close, technically dense fights.
It is also one of the few divisions where GLORY and K-1 agree on the limit, which makes cross-promotional comparison unusually straightforward.
