Alex Pereira's left hand had beaten everyone else in the division; Artem Vakhitov was the fighter who worked out that refusing to stand in front of it, controlling range with a long jab and checking the low kicks, was the answer. Their series is the best available case study in power versus technique at the top of the sport.

Gökhan Saki held the title here before both of them, fighting at a speed nobody in the division could match, and Tarik Khbabez inherited it afterwards on durability and accumulating leg kicks.

At 95 kg this is also the last division before the size disparities of heavyweight start deciding fights on their own.
